Industry Discussions and Meet-Ups

NEW HAMPSHIRE FILM & TELEVISION OFFICE DISCUSSION SERIES AT NEC CONCORD

Our monthly event with varying speakers and topics related to media production in New Hampshire. Filmmakers, media production professionals, students and the general public are encouraged to attend. In addition to the discussion portion of the evening, attendees will also have time to network. Future meetings will continue to address issues that affect the state’s film, television and media production community.

Next Discussion: Monday, April 20, 2015, 6 p.m.
NEC Concord, 62 N. Main Street, Concord

Topic: "The Risks and Rewards of Film Racing"

The popularity of competitions focusing on creating short films in a limited amount of time has increased over the last few years, and so has the rise of risks and liabilities associated with them. Writing, shooting, and editing a film in the span of 48 or 72 hours can be an amazing team-building exercise and a crash course in cinematic creativity. But is it also opening the door to unconventional and unsafe production practices? We will take a look at some of the different competition formats, hear first-hand experiences, and explore both the benefits and impacts of filmmaking at a sprint. Come with your thoughts and ideas!

Food Note: Since our discussion series takes place during the early evening hours, we invite you to take advantage of what downtown Concord has to offer! Grab some coffee or a quick bite before our event, or gather some new friends from the discussion and continue the conversation over dinner at one of the establishments along Main Street. NEW HAMPSHIRE MEDIA PRODUCTION INDUSTRY MEET-UPS

Meet-ups are scheduled in the early evening and are structured to allow attendees to drive the discussion and network with each other. Here, everyone has the chance to take a few minutes to introduce themselves and provide information on their recent or upcoming endeavors (yes, there is a time limit!) The conversation is geared heavily toward the working film and video industry and is free and open to the public.

Next Industry Meet-Up: TBA
