Industry Discussions and Meet-Ups

NEW HAMPSHIRE FILM & TELEVISION OFFICE DISCUSSION SERIES AT NEC CONCORD

Our new monthly event with varying speakers and topics related to media production in New Hampshire. Filmmakers, media production professionals, students and the general public are encouraged to attend. In addition to the discussion portion of the evening, attendees will also have time to network. Future meetings will continue to address issues that affect the state’s film, television and media production community.

Next Discussion Series: Monday November 17, 2014, 6 p.m.
Topic: “The Digital Democratization of Filmmaking”

Democratization of technology is defined by Wikipedia as “the process by which access to technology rapidly continues to become more accessible to more people.”  Has the growth and accessibility of digital technology in production and distribution made it easier (or more difficult) to be a filmmaker? Are there (or should there be) different schools of thought between being a “filmmaker” and simply creating digital content? What does being a filmmaker really mean? In this month’s free-form conversation, we’ll explore the cultural and industry impact of digital democratization in filmmaking both on a broad scope and at a local level. Come with your thoughts and ideas!

NEW HAMPSHIRE MEDIA PRODUCTION INDUSTRY MEET-UPS

Meet-ups are scheduled in the early evening and are structured to allow attendees to drive the discussion and network with each other. Here, everyone has the chance to take a few minutes to introduce themselves and provide information on their recent or upcoming endeavors (yes, there is a time limit!) The conversation is geared heavily toward the working film and video industry and is free and open to the public.

Next Industry Meet-Up: TBA
