A well-fitted, properly used bicycle helmet is an essential piece of safety equipment for all cyclists. Under state law, they are required for all children under 16 riding on a public way.
The price of a helmet should not prevent any child from wearing one. Here are some resources available to individuals, schools and community groups.
The Governor’s Highway Safety Agency provides up to 25 free helmets for use in conjunction with a community bike safety program. Contact: Highway Safety Agency, Pine Inn Plaza, 117 Manchester St., Concord, NH 03301. 271-2131
