Environmental Training & Audit Manager
Arlene is the Training and Audit Manager in the Office of Stewardship & Compliance. Arlene's degree is in Environmental Conservation from the University of New Hampshire and she comes to DOT with a background in natural resources. Before coming to the OSC in January of 2009, Arlene conducted outreach activities for the DES Wetlands Bureau, served as a Compliance Specialist investigating violations of RSA 483-A - the Wetlands Dredge and Fill Statute, and served as the Shoreland Protection Outreach Coordinator for the DES Shoreland Program. She is a NH Board Certified Wetland Scientist, has served on her town's conservation commission, and participates in the DES Voluntary River Assessment Program to sample the water quality of the Blackwater River.
Environmental Stewardship Manager
Russ directs the implementation of environmental management systems throughout the Department. He started with the OSC in May 2008, as the Environmental Training and Audit Manager within the environmental section of the OSC. Previously, he had been employed in the Bureau of Environment for 14+ years. Russ has a Masters degree in Environmental Studies.
Gary brings six years of private consulting expertise and ten years of state service to NHDOT. From 2009 to 2015, Gary operated NH Springs Environmental Consulting LLC out of Manchester, NH specializing in storm water pollution prevention design, construction monitoring, shoreline restoration, and shoreland permitting. He also worked for three years training, consulting, and estimating for Certified Erosion Control - NH. Prior to 2009, Gary served for over 10 years at the NH Department of Environmental Services working with wetlands, septic systems, and shoreland protection. He has a bachelor's degree in Zoology from the University of NH and an associate’s degree in Automotive Technology through the NH Technical College system.

Safety Trainer / Auditor
Before joining the Office of Stewardship and Compliance in November of 2015, Wende was employed for 15 years as a safety manager for a major international food manufacturer. Prior to that, she worked for a large northeast general contracting firm where she performed human resource and safety duties. Wende has a genuine passion for safety, a BS in Occupational Safety and Health, and several OSHA certifications.
Administrative Programs Coordinator
Prior to joining the Office of Stewardship and Compliance in July of 2008, Gary was employed for more than 12 years as a Safety Coordinator for a large seacoast manufacturing company. Having left there, he served for 3 years as Safety Director in a small family owned modular home industry, with functions in Human Resources and Transportation. Gary currently possesses an Associates degree in Occupational Health and Safety and is facilitating the Worker's Compensation Program, ergonomic evaluations and program development.
For Joe, wellness is about so much more than just physical health. It is a journey towards a long and peaceful life filled with vitality, possibility and most importantly, authentic happiness. A former mechanical engineer, Joe switched careers to focus on health and wellness after his first cancer diagnosis several years ago. A licensed massage therapist, personal trainer, wellness coach and employee wellness consultant, Joe has owned a private practice for the past 15 years working with individual clients as well as organizations. He also teaches part time in the Massage Therapy Program at Great Bay Community College in Portsmouth. In his spare time, Joe enjoys hiking in and photographing nature.
Transportation Control Officer
Danielle is a University of Kentucky graduate who comes to NHDOT with over ten years of experience in the drug and alcohol testing industry with a special concentration in DOT agency-specific regulations. In addition to being a former MassDOT and MBTA employee, where she managed the drug and alcohol program for all rail and bus employees, she most recently worked for a private occupational health company, assisting employers with all aspects of creating and sustaining a drug-free workplace. Danielle especially enjoys helping our military service members. She has even served as a contractor for the NH Army National Guard, assisting individual soldiers and training units on substance abuse prevention and awareness. Danielle is devoted to the recovery process at every level and is in the process of becoming a Certified Prevention Specialist.
