Welcome to the Office of Stewardship and Compliance!
Established in 2007, the mission of the Office of Stewardship & Compliance (OSC) is to promote environmental stewardship and compliance and employee health & safety in order to improve the Agency's overall environmental, health and safety performance. This is accomplished through awareness training, site/facility audits and implementation of management systems and pertinent programs. The OSC provides the support necessary to go beyond compliance to achieve continued excellence in stewardship, simply because it is the right thing to do.

Current/Upcoming Events:
- "EHS Days" launched in 2011
Given the Department's elevated emphasis on environmental, health & safety stewardship and compliance, as demonstrated by the establishment of the Office of Stewardship and Compliance (OSC) in 2007, the Department sponsors Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Days for Department employees as of 2011. There is often an interrelationship between environmental topics and those addressing health & safety that lends itself to integrated or, at a minimum, concurrent training sessions or presentations. The EHS Days typically have morning and afternoon sessions, with training modules and "fair style" exhibits, respectively. Training modules are offered in alternative formats, including interactive sessions, rotational breakout group sessions, and combined classroom/hands-on training, to account for the variety of training subjects and to maximize learning retention. At the afternoon session, appropriate statewide health service providers, other State agencies and local wellness practitioners are invited to set up "fair-style" display tables and/or provide hands-on treatment and consultation. Department employees and their spouses are free to roam from table to table, according to their personal interests.
EHS Days bring consistency to environmental, health and safety training provided to Department employees, and they help to promote environmental stewardship, increased safety and improved health. The result is increased compliance, reduced employee lost time due to injuries, and reduced health care costs.
