|Work Begins on New US 4 Bridge Over the Connecticut River
Temporary Bridge Remains Open Between Lebanon, NH – Hartford, VT
The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) announces work is underway on the replacement of the US Route 4 bridge over the Connecticut River between Lebanon, New Hampshire and Hartford, Vermont.
Initial work will involve demolition of the previous bridge that has been closed to traffic since December of 2009. In addition, maintenance work on the existing temporary bridge that remains open to traffic is scheduled for Tuesday, October 29 and Wednesday, October 30, 2013. This bridge deck work will require daytime alternating one-way traffic on both days. Some traffic delays should be expected. The work is weather dependent and inclement weather may extend or change the days of work.
The new steel beam and concrete deck bridge will be built on the alignment of the old bridge being demolished. CPM Constructors, of Freeport, Maine is the general contractor for the $10.7 million project, which has a final completion date of June 2016.
