|Night Water Main Work Will Require Alternating Traffic on US Route 3 on Hooksett
The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) announces work is scheduled to begin the night of Sunday May 12, 2013 on a water main installation on US Route 3 in Hooksett. This water main construction is part of the relocation of underground and aerial utilities along Route 3, so the roadway can be widened to two lanes in each direction, from Valvoline to the intersection of Route 3 and Benton Road.
During this night work, a section of Route 3 will require alternating one-way traffic between Benton Road and Whitehall Road. This work will take place from about 8:00 pm to 6:00 am each night. Water main work will also occur on Martin's Ferry Road and Whitehall Road. During the week of May 12, traffic will be detoured to local streets. Message boards, traffic signs and police officers will be used to alert the traveling public to the detours.
This night work will accelerate the time to complete this portion of the project and significantly decrease the traffic impacts. Access will be maintained to all businesses during their normal hours of operation.
Construction for this road widening will be completed in October 2014. Continental Paving Inc. of Londonderry, NH is the general contractor for the $4 million project.
