|Blasting Underway on I-93 at Exit 3 in Windham
Southbound On-Ramp Temporary Closures
The New Hampshire Department of Transportation announces the continuation of blasting operations along the southbound on-ramp to Interstate 93 at Exit 3 in Windham. Blasting in this area will take place daily, between the hours of 10:00 am and 2:00 pm, Monday through Friday during the month of April. This blasting work is necessary to construct the new alignment of I-93 southbound.
Rolling road blocks are being used to slow southbound traffic on the interstate during blasting operations, resulting in minor delays.
On-ramp traffic will be temporarily stopped during blasting. Extended on-ramp closures may be required to allow crews to safely remove blasted ledge from the roadway, due to its close proximity to the ramp. In these instances, motorists on NH Route 111 seeking to go south on I-93 can either take I-93 northbound and reverse direction at Exit 4, or use Route 28 south by following the blue 93 South Emergency Route signs to Exit 1.
This project is part of the construction of a new I-93 roadway in the vicinity of Exit 3. R.S. Audley of Bow, New Hampshire is the general contractor for the $32 million project, which is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2016.
