"Honor System" Expanded at Exit 11 Tolls in Merrimack
Facility Will Not Be Staffed From 9:00 pm to 5:00 am

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) announces the planned extension of the "honor system" at the Exit 11 Toll Plaza on the F.E. Everett Turnpike in Merrimack.

Effective Friday, March 22, 2013, the Exit 11 Toll plaza will not be staffed nightly from 9:00 pm to 5:00 am. During this time period, motorists who do not have E-ZPass will have three options to pay.

  1. Enter exact change lane and pay toll with exact change.
  2. Enter exact change lane and pick up a pre-printed envelope, which can be mailed in or processed at Hooksett Administration Building to pay the toll and 50 cent processing fee.
  3. Enter E-ZPass lane, where system will collect image of the license plate of the registered owner of the vehicle who will be mailed an invoice for the toll and $1 invoicing fee.

These changes at Exit 11, which are already in effect at Exits 10 and 12, are expected to improve the efficiency of toll collection operations during the hours when traffic is minimal. Toll Attendants working these hours will be reassigned to other shifts or nearby toll facilities.
