| Two "Supermoves" This Week In Northern New Hampshire
Electrical Generator And Turbine En Route From Maine To Berlin Two permitted transports of a large electrical generator and turbine will utilize US Route 2 and NH Route 16 as part of a trip from Searsport, Maine to a new biomass power plant in Berlin, New Hampshire. The first move began Monday and is expected to reach the state line either today or tomorrow. The second move will occur after the hauling equipment returns to Maine following the completion of the first move. Each load being carried on a 74-wheel, 19-axle transporter will be 16 feet 6 inches in height and width, 228 feet long, and weigh approximately 510,000 pounds. The “supermoves” will each travel up to about 25 MPH and occasional delays can be expected. Both moves have been coordinated with state and local police and fire departments and will be escorted by police and other yellow light vehicles. The moves will impact traffic along the route with delays, one-way traffic conditions in some locations, and stopped traffic to allow the crossing of bridges. |
