| Night Work on Interstate 93 Northbound in Salem
Traffic Shift at Exit 1 will Require Lane Closures The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) anticipates nighttime lane closures will be in place on Interstate 93 northbound between the Salem Welcome Center and Exit 2. This work is scheduled for Wednesday, May 2, 2012 from 7:00 pm until 7:00 am on Thursday morning. This night work is weather dependent and will be postponed if poor weather conditions occur. Motorists using I-93 northbound in the area of Exit 1 in Salem during these hours can expect minor traffic delays. Uniformed officers and traffic control devices will be used to assist motorists through the work zone. Motorists using I-93 northbound in the area of Exit 1 to Exit 2 in Salem after this work is completed can expect to be traveling in a new traffic pattern and should stay alert for the changes. This lane closure work is required to complete a traffic shift onto the new portion of northbound Interstate 93. The 1.5-mile portion of new interstate begins near the Exit 1 off-ramp. It includes the new bridge over Lowell Road (NH 38) and 1,000 linear feet of retaining walls. This traffic pattern will be utilized for approximately four months until the phase 2 construction of northbound Interstate 93 is completed. This work is part of the $30.5 million I-93 widening and reconstruction project in the vicinity of Exit 1. The general contractor is Middlesex Corporation of Littleton, Massachusetts. |
