| Two Week Closure of NH 1B in New Castle Begins April 19
Causeway Work Between Goat Island and New Castle Island The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) announces the planned 14 day closure of NH Route 1B in New Castle between Goat Island and New Castle Island, beginning on Thursday, April 18. The road will be reopened by Thursday, May 3, 2012. This closure is to allow for the replacement of 2,700 linear feet of cable guardrail with beam guardrail, and slope stabilization with stone along the NH 1B causeway. This section of roadway will also receive a pavement overlay. During the two-week closure, emergency vehicles will be allowed to pass through the work zone, as well as delivery vehicles at pre-scheduled times. All other vehicles must use an alternate route. Wyman and Simpson, Inc. of Richmond, Maine is the contractor for the $284,000 project, which has a final completion date of May 18, 2012. |
