| New Castle Guardrail Replacement And Paving Project
Lane Closures Planned On NH Route 1B Causeway The New Hampshire Department of Transportation announces work is getting underway on a guardrail replacement and paving project on NH Route 1B in New Castle. This project involves the replacement of 2,700 linear feet of cable guardrail with beam guardrail on the NH 1B causeway between Goat Island and New Castle Island. It also includes slope stabilization work along the causeway, and paving of the travel lanes. Temporary daytime lane closures, controlled by flaggers, will initially be used. The road will be completely closed to traffic for a 14-day period on Thursday, April 19, 2012. During the two-week closure, emergency vehicles will be allowed to pass through the work zone, as well as delivery vehicles at pre-scheduled times. All other vehicles must use an alternate route. Wyman and Simpson, Inc. of Richmond, Maine is the contractor for the $284,000 project, which has a final completion date of May 18, 2012. |
