|Pedestrian/Bicycle Pathway To Reopen In Newington-Dover
Closed Since November 1 As Part Of Little Bay Bridge Project
The New Hampshire Department of Transportation announces the pedestrian pathway between Newington and Dover via the General Sullivan bridge will be reopened to pedestrian and bicycle traffic on Friday, April 29, 2011.
Construction of the Dover approach bridge to the General Sullivan Bridge is nearly complete. Pedestrian and bicycle traffic through the construction area on the Dover side of the General Sullivan Bridge will be guided by the use of temporary fencing. Bicyclists must walk bicycles through the construction area until all work in the vicinity of the pathway is completed, which is expected by May 13, 2011.
The reopened pedestrian/bicycle pathway is within an active construction area for the Little Bay Bridge project. Public trespassing within the work area is prohibited and poses a major safety risk. Pedestrians and bicyclists should stay within the Hilton Park area on the eastern and western sides of the Spaulding Turnpike, or on the pedestrian pathway, and not enter the project work areas. Public passage under the Little Bay Bridge will be closed until 2013.
