| Rumble Strips Being Installed At Hampton Toll Plaza
Aim Is To Slow Down Drivers Approaching The Cash Lanes Motorists approaching the cash paying lanes at the Hampton Toll Plaza on Interstate 95 (Blue Star Turnpike) will soon be reminded to slow down by rumble strips. The two sets of transverse rumble strips (TRS) will be ground into the pavement about 300 feet apart along the approaches to the cash lanes, each with a distinctively difference vibration and sound as vehicles pass over them. “The transverse rumble strips are being strategically placed to heighten awareness of the need to slow down in the cash lanes at the Hampton Tolls,” says NHDOT Turnpikes Bureau Administrator Christopher Waszczuk. “We believe they will help address two distinctively different expectations among motorists passing through the plaza, with one group maintaining highway speeds through the E-ZPass open road tolling lanes and the other slowing down for the cash lanes.” The rumble strips at the Hampton Tolls are being installed as part of a statewide rumble strip contract. |
