| Pedestrian And Bike Pathway On General Sullivan Bridge To Close
To Allow For Construction Work At Little Bay Bridge The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) announces the pedestrian and bicycle pathway on the General Sullivan Bridge over Little Bay in Newington-Dover will be closed to through passage from November 1, 2010 until April 28, 2011 to allow for construction work at the Little Bay Bridge. The closure to through bike/pedestrian passage will occur on the Dover side of the General Sullivan Bridge. Pedestrian access to the bridge will still be allowed from the Newington side. The Hilton Park pathway under the General Sullivan Bridge was closed indefinitely on October 6. Construction of a new four-lane bridge, in addition to the rehabilitation of the existing Little Bay Bridge, will double the traffic capacity and improve safety along this section of the Spaulding Turnpike. Cianbro Corporation of Pittsfield, Maine is the general contractor for the $50.3 million project, which has a final completion date of November 2013. |
