| Hilton Drive And Pathway In Dover To Be Closed On October 6
To Allow For Construction Work At Little Bay Bridge The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) announces Hilton Drive in Dover from Dover Point Road/Boston Harbor Road will be closed between Hilton Park West and Hilton Park East for bridge construction on Wednesday, October 6, 2010. This section of Hilton Drive will be closed until the summer of 2013 to allow for construction activities at the Little Bay Bridge project on the Spaulding Turnpike (NH 16) in Newington-Dover. A signed detour will direct traffic from Dover Point Road/Boston Harbor Road to Route 16 north, Wentworth Terrace and Hilton Park East. The detour will use Route 16 south to Exit 4, where traffic will reverse direction to Route 16 north and proceed to Exit 5. Also scheduled to be closed indefinitely on October 6 is the Hilton Park pathway under the General Sullivan Bridge. The NHDOT also anticipates the complete closure of the General Sullivan pedestrian/bike path between November 1, 2010 and April 29, 2011. Construction of a new four-lane bridge, in addition to the rehabilitation of the existing Little Bay Bridge, will double the traffic capacity and improve safety along this section of the Spaulding Turnpike. Cianbro Corporation of Pittsfield, Maine is the general contractor for the $50.3 million project, which has a final completion date of November 2013. |
