|New Southbound Off-Ramp To Open At I-89 Exit 20 In Lebanon
800 Feet Longer Than Existing Ramp That Will Be Closed
The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) announces a new southbound off-ramp at Exit 20 of Interstate 89 in Lebanon is scheduled to be opened this evening (August 19).
The new alignment of the southbound off-ramp will travel over a new bridge, which is the first of three bridges that will comprise an underpass that will connect the Upper Valley Plaza and the Kmart Plaza. The new ramp is about 800 feet longer than the existing ramp and will provide additional storage capacity to help keep traffic from backing up onto the interstate.
Work preceding the changeover to the new ramp will include traffic line striping and line removal. A southbound lane closure will begin at 8:00 PM.
This project includes the replacement of the I-89 bridges over NH Route 12A, the addition of two lanes (from 5 to 7) on NH 12A at the Exit 20 interchange, and the construction of bridges connecting the Upper Valley shopping plaza with the Kmart shopping plaza.
R.S. Audley, Inc. of Bow, New Hampshire is the contractor for the $20.3 million project, which has a final completion date of October 2012.
