| Work Resumes On I-95 Pavement And Bridge Project In Portsmouth
Exit 7 Ramp Closures Needed To Work On Bridge Over Market Street The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) announces construction work has resumed on pavement and bridge deck rehabilitation on a one-mile section of Interstate 95 in Portsmouth between the Portsmouth Traffic Circle and the High Level Bridge over the Piscataqua River. This project involves pavement resurfacing, rehabilitation of the I-95 bridge decks over Woodbury Avenue, Maplewood Avenue, and Market Street, guardrail replacement and drainage improvements. Work on the I-95 bridge over Market Street will require lane shifts and a reduction from three lanes to two. In addition, the Exit 7 northbound off-ramp will be closed to traffic on Thursday, March 11 and the Exit 7 Southbound on-ramp will be closed on Tuesday, March 16. Both ramps will remain closed to traffic until May 27, 2010. Traffic seeking to use the Exit 7 ramps will be detoured to Exit 5 to the US Route 1 Bypass onto Market Street via a temporary signalized intersection near the USS Albacore. Pike Industries of Belmont, New Hampshire is the general contractor for the $4.78 million contract, which has a final completion date of August 27, 2010. |
