| NH 1A Bridge Project Requiring A Sidewalk Closure
Part Of Deck Rehabilitation Of Hampton-Seabrook Bridge The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) announces the sidewalk on the NH 1A bridge over the Hampton River in Hampton-Seabrook will be closed to pedestrian traffic on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 for six months as part of the deck replacement project on the bridge. The sidewalk is expected to be reopened to pedestrians in June 2010. This project involves the replacement of the deck on the lift bridge and associated improvements. Traffic on the bridge is one lane controlled by temporary signals. With only a 10-foot wide lane for vehicles, pedestrian traffic will be highly discouraged during the sidewalk closure due to safety concerns. SPS New England, Inc. of Salisbury, Massachusetts is the contractor for the $6.7 million project, which has a final completion date of June 2011. |
