Congestion Mitigation And Air Quality Program Application Period Begins


The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) announces the start of the 2010 application cycle for the Congestion Mitigation & Air Quality (CMAQ) program. The CMAQ program is a federally funded grant program that has provided up to 80% of funds for the planning and construction of nearly 170 municipally managed transportation projects in New Hampshire since the mid-1990’s.

Examples of CMAQ projects include: alternative fueled vehicle fleet upgrades and fueling infrastructure, signal coordination/optimization projects, new transit services, and employer trip reduction programs. The schedule for the 2010 Application process is as follows:

  • January 8, 2010: Letters of Interest due to the NHDOT and Regional Planning Commissions by 12:00 pm.
  • February 2010: Mandatory Municipally Managed Project Workshops to be scheduled across New Hampshire.
  • April 1, 2010: Completed applications due to the NHDOT and Regional Planning Commissions by 3:00 pm.
