| Portsmouth Public Informational Meeting
Memorial Bridge (US 1) Repair Project The New Hampshire Department of Transportation will hold a Public Informational Meeting in Portsmouth on November 9 to review and discuss plans for repairs to the Memorial Bridge. This project involves the bridge connecting Portsmouth, New Hampshire and Kittery, Maine via U.S. Route 1 over the Piscataqua River. It will involve repairs to the deteriorated gusset plate that required the Memorial Bridge to be closed to all motor vehicle traffic on October 16, 2009. The public meeting is scheduled for Monday, November 9, 2009 at 7:00 PM at the Portsmouth City Council Chambers, 1 Junkins Avenue in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The purpose of the meeting is to inform public officials and the general public on the status of this emergency project, and to answer questions on the overall status of the bridge inspections for the Memorial Bridge, Sarah Mildred Long Bridge, and I-95 High-Level Bridge connecting New Hampshire and Maine. This project will be administered according to the requirements of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and all related statutes to ensure nondiscrimination.
