PLANS REVISED FOR MEMORIAL BRIDGE REPAIRS IN PORTSMOUTH
The New Hampshire Department of Transportation announces a revision to the previously announced scheduled replacement of the lift cables on the Memorial Bridge in Portsmouth. Due to contractor concerns about safety within the work area, the Memorial Bridge will not be opened to one lane of motor vehicle traffic when the lift span is in the down position on Thursday, July 26 and Monday, July 30. Closing the bridge to motor vehicle traffic on those days will enable the work to be completed one day ahead of schedule, allowing normal bridge and traffic operations to resume on July 31. The rest of the schedule for the Memorial Bridge repairs remains the same. The lift span of the bridge is in the up position and also closed to motor vehicle traffic today (July 24), tomorrow (July 25) and Friday (July 27). Work hours will be from 5:00 am to 5:00 pm. No weekend work will take place, allowing for normal bridge operations. This repair project involves the replacement of 14 lift cables at the bridge. Cianbro Corporation, of Pittsfield, Maine, is the contractor for the $53,000 contract. |
