NIGHT RUMBLE STRIP MILLING TO BEGIN ON I- 93 IN MANCHESTER
The New Hampshire Department of Transportation announces rumble strip milling is scheduled to begin the week of July 9, 2001 on Interstate 93 in Manchester. Rumble strips are milled-in grooves placed several inches apart on roadside shoulders and medians. Studies have found that rumble strips placed on controlled access highways reduce drive-off-the-road crashes by 30 to 50 percent. This latest rumble strip project will extend rumble strips on Interstate 93 from Manchester to the Massachusetts border in Salem, a distance of approximately 25 miles. This night work is expected to take about two weeks to complete. The rumble strip milling will take place between the hours of 7:00 pm and 6:00 am and will require lane closures. State Troopers will be used to guide motorists through the moving work zone. Surface Preparation Technologies, of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, is the contractor for the $244,700 project. |
