GRANTS AVAILABLE FOR TRANSPORTATION PROGRAMS
FOR NON-PROFIT AGENCIES PROVIDING TRANSPORATION SERVICES

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation announces that approximately $365,000 in grants are now available to non-profit agencies in New Hampshire for capital expenditures on transportation programs for the elderly and persons with disabilities.

Capital spending includes buses, vans, communications equipment, wheelchair lifts, and other hardware.

Any private, non-profit agency providing transportation services to the elderly and/or persons with disabilities may apply for a grant. Each grant covers up to 80 percent of the capital item's purchase price. The applying agency is responsible for the remaining 20 percent. Interested agencies must comply with federal and state regulations relating to the program.

Applications must be postmarked no later than January 24, 2001 to be considered for funding. For more information, contact Ken Hazeltine at the NHDOT's Bureau of Rail and Transit at 271-3497.
