COMMENT PERIOD BEGINS ON AIR QUALITY REPORT

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation announces a 30-day comment period begins today (December 12, 2000) on a NHDOT report developed in cooperation with the Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) and the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) showing the department’s conformity for projects in the 2001-2003 fiscal years and the MPO Long Range Plans in sections of the state where air quality has been determined to not meet national ozone and carbon monoxide standards (non attainment areas).

The Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990 require the NHDOT to demonstrate transportation conformity in accordance with a state implementation plan in the non-attainment areas of the state.

Copies of the report may be obtained by calling William Watson, Jr. PE at the NHDOT’s Bureau of Planning at (603) 271-3344. Copies of any related Transportation Improvement Programs or Transportation Plans may be obtained by contacting the appropriate Regional Planning Commission. Comments are due by January 10, 2001 and should be addressed to:
