REPAIRS SCHEDULED FOR SARAH LONG BRIDGE IN PORTSMOUTH
WILL REQUIRE THREE HOUR CLOSURE ON WEDNESDAY MORNING

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation announces bridge joint repairs will take place this Wednesday morning, October 25, at the Sarah Mildred Long Bridge on US Route 1 Bypass between Portsmouth, New Hampshire and Kittery, Maine.

This work will require the lift bridge to be closed to motor vehicles from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon on Wednesday. Changeable message signs will be in place before the work to advise motorists of the closure. Advance warning signs, barricades, and flaggers will be used to prevent vehicles from entering the bridge during the work hours.

Marine traffic and access to residences and businesses approaching the bridge will not be affected by the work. Motorists are advised to use US Route 1 (Memorial Bridge) or Interstate 95 as alternate routes to bypass the closure.

In the event of adverse weather, the work may be delayed until the next suitable workday.
