MEMORIAL BRIDGE ON US 1 IN PORTSMOUTH CLOSED TO VEHICLE TRAFFIC FOR A WEEK
The New Hampshire Department of Transportation announces the Memorial Bridge carrying US Route 1 over the Piscataqua River in Portsmouth will be closed to traffic at 12:00 noon today (10/19/00) for approximately one week. This closure is necessary due to the need to replace a severed back-up lift cable on the Memorial Bridge. The bridge will be closed to vehicle traffic and the deck will be raised to allow the free flow of river traffic. Local officials in Portmouth, New Hampshire and Kittery, Maine are being notified of the bridge closure.
