BRIDGE DECK REPAIRS
US ROUTE 1 BYPASS IN PORTSMOUTH
The New Hampshire Department of Transportation announces bridge deck repairs will take place at the Sarah Mildred Long Bridge on U.S. Route 1 Bypass between Portsmouth, New Hampshire and Kittery, Maine. The work will require the lift bridge to be closed to motor vehicles during the morning of Thursday, October 12th. A New Hampshire Department of Transportation crew will close the bridge from 9:00 a.m to 12:00 noon. Changeable message signs will be in place before the work to advise motorists of the closure. Plans are to use advance warning signs, barricades, and flaggers to prevent vehicles from entering the bridge. Marine traffic and access to residences and businesses approaching the bridge will not be affected by the work. Motorists are advised to use U.S. Route 1 or I-95 as alternate routes to bypass the closure. In the event of adverse weather, the work may be delayed until the next suitable workday. Motorists traveling on U.S. Route 1 Bypass in Portsmouth and Kittery are requested to use caution when approaching the work area. Delays may be encountered. |
