Generating the Old Ground Profile String v8iSimilar to other MX processes, there is more than one way to generate this string. The following technique utilizes a simple Input file.
The Input File
sample MX Input file should be created using the PFE Editor.
000 Input file to generate the OC string
000 aka the Existing Ground String
000 Compiled by JGall 4/27/11
The Input File Breakdown
Refer to MX Input Files for general Input File knowledge. Refer to the MX Command Language Reference or the MX Quick Reference Guide for details of both Major and Minor options.
|Compiled by JGall 11/17/10||Always admit ownership and supply the date, it's the right thing to do.|
|EDIT,Fdesign MCAM||Anticipate that this file will be input more than once. Therefore delete the OC string even if it's not there yet. Major option EDIT requires one model be specified. Specify the model containing the Old Ground String.|
|004,3=OCAM||Minor Option 004 deletes an entire string. Field 3 is the Old Ground String. The naming convention for this string is OC for the first two characters, and the last two characters are the same as the last two characters of the Reference String. In this example, the Reference String is MCAM, therefore the Old Ground String should be OCAM.|
|SECTION,Triangles,Fdesign MCAM||The first occurrence of Major Option SECTION requires two models be specified. The first model is the Triangulation Model. The second model is the Reference Model which contains the Reference String.|
|SECTION,Fdesign MCAM||The second occurrence of Major Option SECTION requires one model be specified. Specify the model receiving the new Old Ground String. Specify this model even if it is the same as the Reference Model.|
|177,MCAM,TX00,OCAM||Minor Option 177 generates a long section through a triangulation. Field 1 is the Reference String label, Field 2 is the Existing Ground Triangulation String label, and Field 3 is defined as the Section String label, or in other words the Old Ground String. The naming convention for this string is OC for the first two characters, and the last two characters are the same as the last two characters of the Reference String. In this example, the Reference String is MCAM, therefore the Old Ground String should be OCAM.|
After the input file is compiled, save it to your project directory. Use the OC string label for the input file name for easy future recognition, in this example use OCAM.INP.
Input your new file in MX to generate the Existing Ground string.
