Importing LandXML Data to MX |
| LandXML was
established to exchange design data utilizing a non-proprietary data
standard. Learn more about LandXML at www.landxml.org.
At this time, there are still limitations when transferring large amounts of data. Only export essential data. The panels for
importing LandXML data to MX vary according to the file being imported. Be leery that your import
situation may be different than what is described below. For example,
importing MX data via LandXML to MX does not require any mapping, therefore
it's process is
much simpler than what is described in this document. |

| The File Contents Summary
At the top of the File Contents Summary is basic LandXML file information. Click Source Data Information to view additional detail about this file.
At the bottom half of the File Contents
Summary are three mapping option buttons. Each button is accompanied
by it's current mapping status. Different mappings are required for COGO Points
(existing detail), Surfaces (triangulation points), and Alignments.
Select from any of the available mapping option buttons to define how it's
data will be mapped. |
COGO Points Mapping
LandXML lacks the ability to use a standardized mapping table for multiple file transfers. Consider translating only essential design data. If drawings are desired, then plan to reference in the original drawing from the source application. If you desire, a mapped version of the current LandXML file can be saved for future use. Select File => Save As, specify an XML File Name and location. Select OK to return to the File
Contents Summary. |
Surfaces Mapping
If you desire, a mapped version of the current LandXML file can be saved for future use. Select File => Save As, specify an XML File Name and location. Select OK to return to the File
Contents Summary. |
Alignments Mapping
Upon import, a geometry string is also created for each master string transferred. If you desire, a mapped version of the current LandXML file can be saved for future use. Select File => Save As, specify an XML File Name and location. Special considerations when transferring alignment data from InRoads to MX. Be aware that LandXML can only understand the last vertical for each alignment. Consider exporting alignments from InRoads with a single vertical. Select OK to return to the File
Contents Summary. |
| Importing the Data
From the bottom of the File Contents Summary, select Import to perform the translation. An exit panel displays a summary of translation details, this includes warnings & errors. Select Finish to complete the import. Repeat the entire process for each LandXML file
requiring translation. |
