Raster Files in v8

The information below is a summary of the most common Raster Manager functions. Refer to the Raster Manager Guide for more details (MicroStation Help > Contents > Raster Manager Guide).

Select the Raster Manager Overview for a summary.

Select Raster Manager Tools for more details about raster file control and manipulation.

To attach a raster image, in MicroStation, open the raster manager (File > Raster Manager). Then select File > Attach… from the raster manager dialog box. Uncheck the Place Interactively box if it is checked. Navigate to the directory where the files are stored. Select the appropriate file and add any logical names or description information. Click the OK button.

At this point there are a number of options available depending on the type of information being attached.

The display of raster images can be modified by commands on the Raster Manager's Edit menu. Select the file you wish to alter and then the desired editing command. This does not alter the image, only how it is displayed.

Modify - a combination of the Move, Scale, and Rotate options

Move - change the location of the image on the drawing

Scale - make the image larger or smaller

Rotate - change the orientation of the image

Mirror - invert the image

Warp - using a group of "from" and "to" positions the image can be reshaped. This would typically be used when attaching images of scanned project plans to align them with the surveyed features.

The Clip option can be used to crop the image so only the desired portion is visible.
