Raster Files in v8
The information below is a summary of the most common Raster Manager functions. Refer to the Raster Manager Guide for more details (MicroStation Help > Contents > Raster Manager Guide).

To attach a raster image, in MicroStation, open the raster manager
(File > Raster Manager). Then select File > Attach… from the raster manager dialog box. Uncheck the
Place Interactively box if it is checked. Navigate to the directory where the files are stored.
Select the appropriate file and add any logical names or description
information. Click the OK button.
At this point there are a number of options available depending on the type of information being attached.
- The recently purchased aerial photos should land in the proper position on the drawing.
- Photographs will need to be moved and possibly warped to their appropriate location.
- Scanned images of project plans will need to be warped and moved to the correct location.
Modify
- a combination of the Move, Scale, and Rotate options
Move - change the location of the image on the drawing
Scale - make the image larger or smaller
Rotate - change the orientation of the image
Mirror - invert the image
Warp - using a group of "from" and "to" positions the image can be reshaped. This would typically be used when attaching images of scanned project plans to align them with the surveyed features.
The Clip option can be used to crop the image so only the desired portion is visible.
