What It Does

Place Cell and Rotate |
This command places a cell and allows it to be rotated dynamically
To use, start by placing the
cell at the desired location with a data point. The cell may then be rotated by using a second data point to define the rotation. If the reset button
is pressed instead, the cell will be placed at a default rotation equal to the active angle. This command will not execute if a cell
library is not attached.
The tool settings for this command are:

Place Cell On and Rotate |
This command places a cell on a linear element, and allows it to be rotated dynamically.
To use, start
by selecting a linear element at the position the cell is to be placed. The cell may then be rotated by using a second data point to define the rotation.
If the reset button is pressed instead, the cell will be placed at a an angle to the element, equal to the active angle. This command will not execute if a cell
library is not attached.
The tool settings for this command are:

Place Cell On |
This command creates a gap in a linear element and places a cell in it. It is similar to MicroStation's
"Place Text Along" command.
To use, identify a linear element at the location the cell is to be placed. Press the data button to accept or
reset to reject the placement. The command will break the element into two parts, creating a gap. This gap is equal to the cell limits. The cell
will then be placed in the gap at the active angle. This command will not execute if a cell library is not attached

Place Cell Along |
This command places a cell repeatedly along a linear or complex linear element.
To use,
identify a linear element. The command will place the cells along the element based on the parameters set in the
tool settings. Press the data button to accept or reset to reject the placement. No gaps will be created, the cells will be placed on the element.
This command will not execute if a cell library is not attached
The tool settings for this command are:

| Spacing |

This is the space between the cells, along the element. If an offset is being used, the spacing may
vary. |
| Offset |

This is perpendicular offset distance between the cell origin and the identified element. A positive value
will offset the cell to the left of the element (based on its origin and direction). A negative value would be to the right. |
| Angle |
- |
This is the active angle. The cells will be placed at a rotation equal to the direction of the element at the point
of offset, plus the active angle value. |

Replace Cells |
This command can be used to update or replace existing cells in a design file.
Two methods are
available for replacing cells, "Update" and "Replace". The "Update" method will search the attached cell library for the name of the
selected cell(s). If it exists, the graphics of the selected cell(s) will be updated to match the cell library. How the cell(s) were originally placed
(location, scale and angle) will not be affected. If the a cell's name is not found in the cell library, it will not be operated on.
To use,
identify a cell using a data point. If multiple cells are to be selected, selection sets and fences may be used. In each case, the data button needs
to be pressed to accept the operation or the reset button to reject it.
Tool settings for the "Update" Method.
The "Replace" method will replace the selected cell(s) with a different cell.
To use, identify the cell to replace using a data point. If
multiple cells are to be selected, selection sets and fences may be used. If the "Use Active Cell" toggle is off, select a cell to use as a
replacement. If the toggle is on, the graphics for active cell will be copied out of the cell library. In each case, the data button needs
to be pressed to accept the operation or the reset button to reject it.
Tool settings for the "Replace" Method.
The tool settings for the "Replace" method include:

Two modes are available, "Single" or "Global". When "Single" mode is selected, cells may be selected individually.
This mode should also be selected when a selection set or fence is to be used. "Global" mode always attempts to replace all cells in the file. This is
usually not something that should be done.

| Use Active Cell |

When on, the active cell will be used as the replacement cell. When off, the replacement cell is
identified graphically. |
| Replace Attributes |
- |
When on, all user data (such as tags and database attributes) associated with a cell are replaced by
the new cell's user data. Typically, this should be left off. |
| Use Fence |
- |
When on and a fence is active, the cells in the fence will be operated on. Be sure the mode is set to single before
using. |
