Dimensioning Cross Sections
In order to dimension the cross sections like the Highway Design Manual some dimension settings need to be changed from the "defaults" and a cell used as the terminator symbol.
To dimension cross sections like the Highway Design Manual:
- Select Elements > Dimensions from the pull down menu.
- In the Dimensions Settings dialog box, scroll to Extension Lines. Uncheck the box marked Extension Lines.
- Scroll to Terminator Symbols. Click on the Arrow:
Default. Choose Cell. A Name box will
appear. Depending on your project's scale, type in DIMAR1 or DIMAR2
(see below) and press Return:
- For 20 or 250 scale projects (5 scale or 1:50 xsection scale) use DIMAR1.
- For 50 or 500 scale projects (10 scale or 1:100 xsection scale) use DIMAR2.
- Scroll to Units. Click on Label: x'-x" (or what
ever the current label is) and choose:
- Imperial - x1/2'
- Metric - x1/2
- Choose the correct rule from QA Input and start dimensioning.
Do not use the mdl MODZ on 3D cross section drawings. The arrow heads will disappear (at this time, reason unknown). Instead of MODZ, the macro FLATTEN can be used. To utilize the FLATTEN macro:
- Select Utilities>Macros from the pull down menu.
- Scroll to Flatten. Click on Run.
The macro will scan the contents of a 3D drawing and give them an elevation of 0.00.
