Getting Started:
Everything You Need to Initiate a Local Program

Preliminary School Survey: Use this form to indicate your school or community’s interest. The coordinator will use the contact information to schedule meetings with local leaders. MS Word or PDF

Meet the coordinator: John Corrigan, the state coordinator, will travel to meet with interested people in their communities. Using a PowerPoint presentation, he will give an overview of the program, answer any questions, and discuss local issues. He will also put you in touch with a Regional Planning Commission for technical assistance and help with preparing a travel plan and funding application. Meetings can be scheduled at the convenience of local leaders, with early morning and evening appointments avaiabl.e

Parent and Student Surveys: This link will take to the survey forms developed by the National Center for Safe Routes to School to gather data for the “Evaluation” part of the “5Es.” Use of the in-class and parent survey is required. Look in the "Evaluation" section in the column on the right side of the page for:

Manual for the Development of Projects This document, originally developed for the Treanportation Enchancement and Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality programs, is the model for administering SRTS reimbursemet funding. Note that SRTS reimburses for 100 pecent of expenses, not the 80 percent for TE and CMAQ grants.
