Lebanon Kids Form Weekly SRTS Walking School Bus

Getting started

Teacher Cathy Lacombe of the School Street School meets the first two walkers for the Lebanon walking school bus in the early morning dark of a fall school day.

When kids from a neighborhood walk together with adult supervision, it can reduce their exposure to potential traffic hazards, bullying and crime.

Rain couldn't dampen the enthusiasm of young walkers heading for the School Street School.

Walking school bus gathers momentum

More students join the walking school bus as it approaches the School Street School in Lebanon.

Bright, reflective materials keep the kids visible as they walk to school. A wheeled backpack and parental help lighten the burden of a day's worth of books and other gear.

Wet hair

An umbrella wasn't enough to keep this youngster's hair dry during the walk to school.

This School Street School student worked up an appetite by walking to school. Given the price of gasoline these days, a bowl of cereal is an inexpensive fuel.
