Frequently asked questions about our Sponsor-A-Highway program.
Some of the more commonly asked questions about New Hampshire's Sponsor-A-Highway program are answered here. |
How long does the sign-up process take?
Once you have completed and submitted the necessary paperwork, your application is typically approved within two weeks. |
Are there any fees associated with becoming a sponsor?
There are no fees or dues in sponsoring a highway through the program. If you sponsor a section of limited access highway, Maintenance providers do this work on your behalf for a fee. |
What about insurance. Do we need to have it?
Maintenance providers will be required to have insurance. Volunteer groups are not required to have insurance. Details are included in our registration packet. |
What if the route that I want is already taken?
Chances are that the route you want will be available. If not, you can choose a portion immediately adjacent to it, if available. You can also go on a waiting list if you like. |
Are there restrictions as to the age of participants? We are a school group with young children.
Safety is an important requirement with our program and supervision of all participants, no matter what age is essential when working within highway rights-of-way. Children under the age of 11 are not allowed to participate on secondary highways. Children under the age of 16 are not allowed to participate on limited access highways. |
