RE: GOVERNOR CRAIG BENSON AND THE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL APPOINT NEW COMMISSIONER TO THE NEW HAMPSHIRE COMMISSION ON THE STATUS OF WOMEN

The Governor and Executive Council have recently confirmed Pamela Remick of Lancaster to the New Hampshire Commission on the Status of Women.

Ms. Remick received her education at the American Institute of Banking in New York, the Norwalk Secretarial School in Connecticut and the LSAMP Mediation Program and the Divorce and Parent/Child Mediation Program. She is currently the Assistant Vice-President and Office Manager for the Laconia Savings Bank in Whitefield, NH. Ms. Remick is involved in many community service initiatives including serving as the Director of the Northern Gateway Chamber of Commerce, the President of the Board of the Weathervane Theatre Players, the President of the Hospice of the Lancaster Area, and the Founder and Facilitator of Friends in Deed, a breast cancer support group in the North Country.

The Commission is very pleased to welcome Ms. Remick. "We look forward to advancing the work of the Commission on the Status of Women with the addition of Ms. Remick. She will represent New Hampshire's North Country, for which we are particularly pleased. She has had a wealth of experience and brings to the Commission important professional and community work background," said Commission Chair Pat Yosha.

The New Hampshire Legislature established the New Hampshire Commission on the Status of Women in 1969. The Commission is compromised of 15 members who are appointed by the Governor and approved by the Executive Council. Commission members, who live throughout the state, are instrumental in providing information and referral services to women in New Hampshire. As outlined by the New Hampshire state legislature, the Commission's role is to stimulate and encourage study and revisions of the statutes relative to women in New Hampshire; to recommend methods of overcoming discrimination against women in public and private employment and civil and political rights; to promote more effective methods of enabling women to develop their skills and continue their education; and to secure appropriate recognition of women's accomplishments and contributions to the state.
