RE: Girls Connect - Girls in Science Program

*****For Immediate Release*****

CONCORD, NH-The New Hampshire Commission on the Status of Women, in partnership with the Christa McAuliffe Planetarium, Girls Inc. of New Hampshire, and the Robotic Chicks Union (RCU), is hosting a two day Lego Camp for New Hampshire girls. The event is to take place April 21-22 at the Courtyard Marriott in Concord, NH and is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor, Women's Bureau.

Sixty girls from across the state will be participating in the program. The first day will be spent building their robots with the help of adult and high school mentors. The girls will spend the night in the Christa McAuliffe Planetarium and will end the night a sky show on the Planetarium's ceiling.

A mini-competition will be held on the second day of the program. The girls will have to complete certain tasks with their robots. The judges and mentors will be adult engineers and high school girls from the RCU. This program is meant to introduce girls to the non-traditional fields of math, science, and technology and to show them how fun it can really be!
