Thirteenth Annual Women's Recognition Award Nominations Sought
The New Hampshire Commission on the Status of Women is requesting nominations for the 2009 Women’s Recognition Award.
Each year this award is made to a woman who resides in New Hampshire and has brought honor and prestige to herself and to this State through her accomplishments. Any resident of New Hampshire may nominate a woman who demonstrates leadership in her community and in the State by way of innovating, informing, motivating, or inspiring people and organizations to work on behalf of New Hampshire women and girls. We want to honor New Hampshire women who are positive role models, show perseverance and commitment, are dependable, show integrity, self respect and respect for others.
A recognition ceremony with the Governor and Executive Council will be held to honor the recipient in conjunction with Women’s Equality Day, August 26, which commemorates women’s suffrage rights. Members of the Commission select the award recipient from the nominations submitted. Recent recipients of this honor have included: Sandra Hicks, Manchester, 2000; Liz Whaley, Newmarket, 2001; Eileen Phinney, Goffstown, 2002; Clare Houston, Exeter, 2003; Dr. Wendy Gladstone, Exeter, 2004; Kristann Moody, Barrington, 2005; Niki Miller, Manchester, 2006; JerriAnne Boggis, Milford, 2007, and Maureen Beauregard, Northwood, 2008.
