Accepting nominations for the (UNH) Women's Commission Awards
Good morning,
Each year, the UNH President's Commission on the Status of Women presents four prestigious awards to a person or group who has made an outstanding contribution to promoting equity, advancing the status of women, and serving as a role model for women on campus. At this time, we are seeking nominations for awards as described below. Nominations may be made in three categories: faculty, staff and student.
Women's Commission Awards
STUDENT AWARD, based on depth and breadth of contributions, impact on individuals, organizations, programs, and policies as well as length of service.
FACULTY AWARD, based on depth and breadth of contributions, impact on individuals, organizations, programs, and policies as well as length of service.
STEPHANIE THOMAS STAFF AWARD, created in honor of former Registrar, Stephanie Thomas, who was a strong advocate for women's rights at UNH. She died in the 1990s. This award is given to a member of the UNH community who has displayed a long-standing commitment to women's issues and the mission of the Women's Commission.
JOYCE GIBBS AWARD: The Joyce Gibbs Award was created in 1996 to honor Joyce James Gibbs, who died in April 2001. Throughout her life, Joyce was the support and anchor for a wide circle of students, activists and others in the UNH and Seacoast communities. This award is given to a community member who has displayed a long-standing commitment to women's issues and the mission of the Women's Commission.
Deadline for nominations is March 5.

Award recipients and nominees will be honored at the Women's Commission 25th Anniversary Celebration Lunch will be served and you are invited to attend. Join us!!! Please RSVP to Janice Pierson in a timely manner so that she can have an accurate count for the caterer.
Lisa Goodman, Associate Professor of Counseling Psychology at Boston College, will be the guest speaker at the award luncheon. Her keynote address is titled "Women in Poverty and What We Can Do."
