January 30, 2008, Concord, NH - Listed below are some of the items that were approved at the Governor and Council Meeting, January 30, 2008, that might be of interest to District Five constituents.

The next Governor and Council Meeting will be held Wednesday, February 13, 2008, in the Governor and Council Chamber, State House, Concord, NH.

OFFICE OF ENERGY AND PLANNING

Authorized to amend a sole source contract with Southern NH Services Inc., Manchester, NH, (previously approved by G&C on 9-19-07, item #5), for the Fuel Assistance Program by increasing the amount by $623,335 from $4,434,180 to $5,057,515. Effective upon G&C approval through September 30, 2008. 100% Federal Funds.

Authorized to amend a sole source contract with Southwestern Community Services Inc., Keene, NH, (previously approved by G&C on 9-19-07, item #6), for the Fuel Assistance Program by increasing the amount by $571,554 from $1,715,481 to $2,287,035. Effective upon G&C approval through September 30, 2008. 100% Federal Funds.

DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION

Authorized Division of Career Technology and Adult Learning to enter into a contract with NH-JAG, Manchester, NH, to provide dropout prevention alternative education services in an amount not to exceed $107,640. (2) Further Authorized to make advanced monthly payments for services provided under the terms of the contract. (3) Further Authorized to withhold 10% of the contract total instead of the 25% withholding provision of the contract price. Effective upon G&C approval through June 30, 2009. 100% General Fund.

COMMUNITY COLLEGE SYSTEM OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

Authorized, as detailed in letter dated January 15, 2008, the college name changes within the Community College System of NH as approved by the Board of Trustees.

DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION

Authorized the Bureau of Right of Way to sell a 0.6 acre parcel of State owned land located in Merrimack to The Thomas More College of Liberal Arts for $30,000 plus a $1,100 administrative fee. Effective upon G&C approval. Private/Local Funds.

TUITION REQUESTS

PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION - Request permission to pay Daniel Webster College, Nashua, NH, the sum of $1,530.00 for the sole purpose of enrolling Robyn J. Descoteau, PUC Examiner, in the course entitled “Forecast and Demand Analysis”.

Kerri A. Lafond, Keene, NH to the Athletic Trainers Governing Board
Susan Whittemore, Keene, NH to the Pesticides Control Board

Represents the cities and towns of Amherst, Brookline, Dunbarton, Fitzwilliam, Goffstown, Greenville, Hinsdale, Hollis, Jaffrey, Keene, Lyndeborough, Mason, Merrimack, Milford, Mont Vernon, Nashua, New Boston, New Ipswich, Peterborough, Richmond, Rindge, Sharon, Swanzey, Temple, Troy, Wilton, and Winchester.
