EXECUTIVE COUNCIL REPORT
By Raymond S. Burton
There has been much discussion this summer and fall about growing and
harvesting food on farmlands. Earlier this year, the Governor and Executive
Council were presented a book written by Jeremy Lougee of New Hampton, NH entitled, Sustaining Agriculture in the Granite State.
Jeremy is a student at UNH and wrote this well written 54 page book urging citizens to restore and sustain agriculture in NH. It is really a guide to restoring our local foods, farms and independence throughout the state. Our former NH Commissioner of Agriculture often reminded us that 96% of our food comes from out of state.
Our current Commissioner of Agriculture, Lorraine Merrill, is busy touring NH and visiting county farm lands urging even our own State Prison Farm Industry
administrators to grow more!!
New Hampshire’s ten counties own some 8000 acres of land much of which can be used to grow food and market it for additional revenue.
Invite Jeremy to speak at a local civic group-you'll be very pleased
and inspired by what he has to say!. I'm proud to be one of his public
servants in New Hampshire.
For more information about Jeremy Lougee's book: contact UNH Printing

The book is available for $10.00 including shipping. |
