EXECUTIVE COUNCIL REPORT
By Raymond S. Burton
It was well over 10 years ago that each member of the NH Executive Council was asked to set up District Health Council to act as a citizen sounding board for the Commissioner and senior staff at the NH Department of Health and Human Services. HHS is the Granite States largest state agency, covering mental health, public health, and behavioral health, child and youth services and delivers a wide variety of services to those in need through 13 offices through out the state.
As Councilor for the largest district, I established three councils made of consumers, providers, and public officials. I always insist that the Commissioner of HHS attend each of these meetings. We meet quarterly. Everyone is welcome to attend. There is no cost, no dues, only just two hours of a general exchange of information from local, state, and federal levels. Over the years these council meetings have been of great benefit to all who attend. Notification of this is all done by e-mail. If you wish to be notified of the meeting in your region e-mail me at ray.burton4@gte.net, or send it to khenderson@dhhs.state.nh.us. The meetings for this quarter are set for Friday, March 6, at River Glen in Littleton, NH, March 13 in Moultonborough, and March 20 in Claremont. The time is usually between 9-11 A.M.
If you have a concern or interest in the health of people in NH please come, we need you.
