EXECUTIVE COUNCIL REPORT BY RAY BURTON
At a recent meeting of the Governor and Council we voted to authorize $450, 000 for the New Hampshire Highway Safety Agency (federal money) For a NH Liquor Commission Mobile DUI command van.
I raised several issues about having another vehicle van on the road patrolling, who and how it was going to be dispatched. What educational programs would be part of this new mobile van.
As one of your elected officials seeking answers, I learned that 30% of highway fatalities in NH are alcohol related. We were also told that the maintenance of this vehicle will be done by the NH Liquor Commission.
This vehicle has been designed by an advisory task force. It will have on board three holding cells, a local bail bondsman and will be authorized to operate in a certain area by a judge.
A local chief of police can request this vehicle and pay only for the fuel to bring it to an area.
