GOVERNOR AND EXECUTIVE COUNCIL MINUTES
State House, Concord, New Hampshire
April 30, 2002 2:00 p.m.
The Governor and Executive Council convened at 2:00 p.m., with all members present.
DEPARTMENT OF RESOURCES AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
#1 The Governor and Executive Council on motion of Councilor Burton, seconded by Councilor Wieczorek, authorized the acquisition by eminent domain of certain land in the City of Berlin and the Towns of Gorham and Shelburne comprising a portion of the riverbed of the Androscoggin River in the vicinity of the pulp and paper mills and related hydroelectric facilities owned by subsidiaries of American Tissue, Inc. The Governor and Council also supports the finding that the acquisition by eminent domain is necessary, that it serves an important public purpose and that the benefits to the public outweigh the social costs to affected landowners.
The Governor set the next Governor and Executive Council Meeting for Wednesday, May 15, 2002 at 10:30 a.m., at the State House, Concord, New Hampshire.
